These two got married in a beautiful ceremony last Saturday, and not only did the rain hold off, but the sunshine even came out just in time for their after-reception portraits!
I wrote about how I knew Carrie on their engagement session blog post, but I gotta say…getting to know her and Ben’s families made me realize all over again just how special these two are. They’re obviously so adored by both of their families, and getting to watch Carrie’s family welcome Ben as a son/brother (and vice versa!) was so, so much fun.
Carrie got ready for the day in the sunroom of a house a little ways from the church, (and now I am a huuuge fan of sunrooms) and Ben got ready at the church. They exchanged the sweetest letters to each other, and then we drove to Bush’s Pasture Park for the first look and photos. (You gotta check out Ben’s reaction when he first saw Carrie, and the big smile that followed, so don’t close out of this window until you do!!) After the we wrapped up the portraits, it was back to the church for family formals and then time for the ceremony. It was such a beautiful and God-honoring ceremony, and then finally…they were Mr & Mrs!!! I’m not sure if it was just because I am *so* happy for Carrie & Ben, or if it’s because I was thinking forward toward my own wedding, but I definitely had tears in my eyes multiple times during the ceremony. The reception held one of the more hilarious cake cuttings and garter tosses that I’ve ever seen (apparently pie is a little hard to feed someone else), but then again, I wouldn’t have expected anything else from this sweet but absolutely hilarious couple!
Finally, it was time to send them off to their honeymoon, although I got lucky and was able to steal them for a few minutes longer and take some husband + wife portraits. Oh, and um, can we just talk about Carrie’s veil???? Seriously, how absolutely stunning is it?! (Brides, if you’re debating about having sunset/after-reception portraits, I’d highly encourage you to just do it! You won’t regret it. And if you’re debating about having a long veil…also just do it! If nothing else, the pictures are amazing!)
Ben + Carrie, you guys have been absolutely amazing to get to work with, and I am so thankful I was able to be part of your incredibly special and beautiful day. You two are going to do amazing work in the Kingdom of God, and I can’t wait to see what that looks like. Keep always laughing and always looking to Jesus and each other. Hugs!
(Special thanks to my second photographer, Jamie, for being my right-hand-woman and providing some of the images in this blog post. I couldn’t do my job without you, girl!)
