25 Random Wedding Tips

It’s been over 6 months since I married the love of my life, so today, I wanted to share 25 random wedding tips with y’all! They’re in no particular order, and a lot of them you may have heard before. But based on my own experiences, these are some of my wedding tips for you.

  1. Time your hair & makeup trial runs so you know how much space to give them in the wedding day timeline.
  2. Not quite sure how to pee in your dress? If it’s an easy one to take off/put on, just slid out of it for a bathroom break and then back in once you’re done.Wedding Tips by Rebekah Leona Photography
  3. Don’t want to spend money on matching robes but want to match with your bridesmaids while getting ready? Ask them to wear a specific color!
  4. Prep a mock-up of a reception table, and then take an overhead photo of it. Pop it into Instagram stories and put some labels on it, then save and print for your cleanup crew.
  5. Speaking of cleanup crew, make sure to have a designated cleanup crew, and to ask more people than you think you might actually need. Many hands make light work! Also, make comprehensive lists (and have several copies printed) so there’s little to no guess work on what belongs where.
  6. Post wedding, make a Dutch Bros run while still in your wedding clothes! Chances are, they’ll give you free drinks.
  7. If you need to save on seating, re-use your ceremony chairs at the reception. (Check out my post, “10 ways to cut your wedding budget” here.)
  8. Pack a separate 1st night bag. Put all your first night essentials in there, so you don’t have to be scrambling through your other bags searching for anything. (Don’t forget your toothbrush…I know, super romantic.)
  9. This should go without saying, but don’t drink too much caffeine the morning of your wedding!
  10. Make sure to have the speech-makers at the reception stand close to you. That way, all the emotion can be caught within the same photo!
  11. Kiss sloooowwwwlllllyyyy after you’re pronounced husband & wife! If y’all just give each other a peck, it will be hard to capture on camera. You don’t need to have a full on make-out session, but a nice 5 second kiss never hurt anybody.
  12. Build extra buffer time into your timeline.
  13. Clean your ring the day before (or two days before) your wedding, so it’s all sparkly for the big day.
  14. Don’t fly the day after the wedding!! If at all possible, give yourself a full day to relax and recover before hoping a plane.
  15. Create a morning-of bag or box for your photographer. Toss all the important things in there: your rings, your soon-to-be-husband’s ring, any other jewelry, your perfume, a copy of your invitation suite, and any other special little details you want photographed.
  16. If you’re wearing a strapless wedding dress, don’t wear a bra the morning of your wedding! Opt for a bandeau or something similar, otherwise, you may have marks on your shoulders from the straps.
  17. Purchase a few clear umbrellas, just in case of rain on the wedding day.
  18. Toss some vitamin C/Emergen-C and other vitamins into your honeymoon bags. And start dosing up a week or two before the wedding!
  19. Skip the save the dates, and use the money elsewhere. Just have your invitations sent out at least 2 months before the wedding, and you’ll be good to go.
  20. Not quite sure where to start on planning? There are plenty of handbooks and guides on Amazon, but I found this one from PurpleTrail to be a good one. (Although I didn’t end up using it as much as I thought I would…more on that in another post!)
  21. Give your phone (and passcode) to a trustworthy person the morning of your wedding…just don’t forget to get it back before you leave!
  22. Have your dress cleaned ASAP, especially if it gets dirty.
  23. Check out Etsy for everything from bridesmaid dresses to cake toppers and more. (Check out my favorite wedding purchases from Etsy here.)
  24. If the comb in your veil just isn’t working with your hairstyle, take that puppy out and replace it with some loops. Then use bobby pins to hook through the loops and secure to your head!
  25. On the days leading up to the wedding, and especially on the wedding day itself, take a few moments to pause. Breathe deeply, and take it all in. You’ll probably hear that bit of advice all the time, but that’s because it’s such good advice. I distinctly remember the few times on my wedding day that I paused and just took it all in. Those moments will forever be ingrained in my memory, and I’m so thankful for them!
