Lucas & Laura // Mount Rainier Couple’s Session

by Rebekah · Leave a Comment

I am SO stoked to share this Mount Rainier couple’s session with you all today! Earlier this summer, Laura messaged me on Instagram and ask if I would be willing to travel to Mount Rainier for a couple’s session. The answer was a resounding “YES!”

(Side note: folks, I will travel just about ANYWHERE. If you’ve got an idea or a dream, hit me up and let’s make it happen. Just because I’m based in Oregon doesn’t mean I only photograph here!)

Laura and her husband, Lucas, have an awesome tradition of summiting a new mountain every Labor Day weekend. This year, they chose Mount Rainier! Laura is a photographer herself (check out her Instagram here) and was having a hard time finding someone that fit the light & airy style she wanted. She stumbled on my account, and fell in love. After chatting through timing and location details, we officially had a plan!

The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for their couple’s session. Beautiful blue skies, fluffy white clouds, and golden sunshine. At one point, the clouds rolled in over us completely taking away our views. But it only lasted for a few minutes, and honestly it added to the whole experience! One tip for anyone photographing in the mountains: dress in layers, and wear more layers than you think you’ll need! It can get chilly up there!

Lucas & Laura, thank you for choosing me to photograph you at Mount Rainier! You are a rockstar couple together, and I can’t wait to see what other mountains you summit together!

Pro tip: When you’re planning "getting ready" t Pro tip: When you’re planning "getting ready" time before your engagement session (scheduling your hair, makeup, etc.) please give yourself a lot more time than you think you'll need. Make sure to account for things like traffic, getting lost and parking, so you can prevent unnecessary stress, arrive a few minutes early to your session and be ready to start on time. We’re only able to shoot when light is still in the sky, so we’ll want to take advantage of every minute we have together before the sun goes down!

Want to know five of my top wedding planning tips? Want to know five of my top wedding planning tips?? ⤵️ 1) Time your hair & makeup trial runs so you know how much space to give them in the wedding day timeline. Then, add some buffer time in, just in case!! 2) Prep a mock-up of a reception table, and then take an overhead photo of it. Pop it into Instagram stories and put some labels on it, then save and print for your setup/cleanup crew. (This is especially helpful if you’re using a mixture of rented, borrowed, and purchased items!) 3) If the comb in your veil just isn’t working with your hairstyle, take that puppy out and replace it with some loops. Then use bobby pins to hook through the loops and secure to your head! 4) Kiss sloooowwwwlllllyyyy after you’re pronounced husband & wife! If y’all just give each other a peck, it will be hard to capture on camera. You don’t need to have a full on make-out session, but a nice 5 second kiss never hurt anybody. 5) Toss some vitamin C/Emergen-C and other vitamins into your honeymoon bags. And start dosing up a week or two before the wedding! Make sure to save this post to reference again during your wedding planning process!
