Nick & Hailey // William L Finley Maternity Session

Hailey and Nick are two of my most favorite people that I’ve met through photography. They’re just about as goofy as can be, head over heels in love with each other, and really forgiving even when the photographer forgets Hailey’s name and calls her something else for most of the session. (Unfortunately, true story.)

The first time I met Nick and Hailey, it was about a year after they got married. I was hosting some Christmas mini sessions, and they booked one. They arrived looking all snazzy, and we proceeded to talk and joke and have a grand ole time, all while I called them by (what I thought was) their names. Then about halfway through the session, Nick says, “hey, so um funny story, her name is actually Hailey…” and I desperately wished the ground would open up and swallow me. I profusely apologized…to which both Nick and Hailey responded with laughter and “oh it’s totally okay”.

Even though I’m not planning to implement the whole calling-a-client-by-the-wrong-name thing as a way to connect with people, I’m pretty sure that brought the three of us all closer. At the least, it didn’t scare them off, because they came back to me for their maternity photos at the end of August, right before I took time off for my wedding.

Baby Girl will be here any day now, so I figured it was high time to get these photos blogged. I loved every second of hanging out with these two while we frolicked around the wildlife refuge. Even though it was blistering hot, Hailey was an absolute rockstar and the epitome of a glowing mama, and Nick could’ve been the poster boy for a proud papa and husband.

Nick + Hailey, I love you guys. You’re the kindest souls, full of laughter and joy, and I know you’re going to rock your new roles. Let me know when you need me to babysit, okay?? 😉
