The Wood Family // A Dreamy Family Session in Bend, Oregon

Oooh my heavens, this family session in Bend, Oregon last week was SO DREAMY. The location, the sweet family, the smoky lighting…everything came together to create one of my favorite family sessions to date.

I met Alicia and her family almost five years ago now. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long, but at the same time? It seems like I’ve known them forever. The first interaction we had was when she posted in a photography group asking about trading photos. I was just beginning to change my style to be more light & airy, so I commented and said that I would love to trade photos…but that I didn’t have much practice yet and couldn’t promise her anything.

I’ll never forget Alicia’s words. “You can practice on a friendly face!”

And a friendly face they all were! My now husband/then boyfriend and I drove over the mountains to Bend and traded photo sessions one sunny (but COLD) fall day. From that day on, I knew I had a lifelong photographer friend in Alicia.

This lady and I have been by each other’s side (both literally and metaphorically) through some crazy times in our photography businesses, but we’ve come out the other side as stronger humans and better photographers…in spite of everything!

Alicia, thank you for being a friendly face all those years ago. Thank you for being a true friend and ally in this industry. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for you. And thank you for being willing to trade sessions again this year! Your family session in Bend was a literal dream, and I cannot WAIT to have you take photos of my husband and me! Love you all forever!
