The 3 Things To Do on Your Wedding Day (and the 1 Thing Not To Do)

Three months ago today, I was getting all prettied up and ready to marry the love of my life. And today, I want to share with you all 3 things to do on your wedding day…and 1 thing not to do!

Having breakfast with someone who calms you.3 things to do on your wedding day...go to breakfast!

For me, this was my dad. We left the house around 0630, and got to our favorite little restaurant just before they opened their doors. Having that time with just the two of us was so special, and so calming for me. Plus, it made sure that I actually ate breakfast! (Which may have actually been my only meal until dinner…I can’t honestly remember if I ate lunch or not!)

Making a morning-of playlist.3 things to do on your wedding day...make a playlist!

I put together a playlist on Spotify of all my favorite romantic songs, and had it on a shuffle loop in our getting ready room. Now, anytime I turn that playlist on, I’m immediately back in that room and all the excitement + anticipation it held!

Ask for the “weird” photo.3 things to do on your wedding day...ask for the weird photos!

We got ready at my parents farm + my childhood home. Which obviously meant that there were sentimental + special things at just about every turn. At one point, I asked our amazing photographers if they would do something “weird” for me. “There are two dogs out back behind the barn…could you take a couple photos of them?” Sean jumped right on that, and now I have some beautiful photos of two very special animals. Don’t be afraid to make a request, and never think that it’s too “weird”. This is YOUR day!

Okay, so I’ve told you the 3 things to do on your wedding day…but what about the 1 thing not to do?

Don’t forget the iron.3 things to do on your wedding day...iron your robe!

I ordered a robe off of Etsy (linking it here, because I know I’ll get questions about it!), and it arrived the day before the wedding. We tossed it in the washer, but it didn’t even cross my mind to iron it until I was putting it on the morning of the wedding. I wish I would’ve taken a few minutes to iron it, or had somebody else do it for me! Because now, every time I look at our (STUNNING) photos, I can’t help but notice the wrinkles. *Insert facepalm here.* It’s definitely not the end of the world, but it would’ve been a nice thing to not miss!

I’m curious to know…if you’re planning your wedding, are these things that you have already thought of? Or was one of these a lightbulb moment for you? What other kinds of tips have you heard and tucked away for the big day? Tell me all about it in the comment section below!
